From 8\u201310 July 2026, Professor Dr. Supawan Tantayanon, Director of the BBL\u2013CST Small-Scale Chemistry Programme, together with delegates from the Chemical Society of Thailand under the Patronage of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana, participated in the 13th<\/sup> International Symposium on Microscale Chemistry (13ISMC), held at St Paul’s School, London, United Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The symposium brought together educators, researchers, and chemistry professionals from around the world to exchange knowledge and experiences in Small-Scale Chemistry and Green Chemistry, with a shared commitment to advancing sustainable chemistry education and laboratory practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the symposium, Professor Dr. Supawan Tantayanon was honoured to serve as an Invited Speaker, delivering a presentation entitled “A Gateway to Green Chemistry and Sustainability.” Her presentation highlighted the application of Small-Scale Chemistry as an effective approach to promoting Green Chemistry principles and supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in chemistry education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presentation emphasized strategies to reduce chemical consumption and laboratory waste, enhance laboratory safety, and encourage environmentally responsible practices through innovative teaching and learning. It also showcased the successful expansion of the BBL\u2013CST Small-Scale Chemistry Programme through networks of schools and science teachers across Thailand, ASEAN Member States, and South Asia, demonstrating the programme’s contribution to strengthening chemistry education and fostering sustainable scientific development at both regional and international levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chemical Society of Thailand remains committed to promoting international academic collaboration and advancing innovative approaches to chemistry education that support sustainability, scientific excellence, and global partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the invited presentation, the Chemical Society of Thailand under the Patronage of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana also showcased its research through the Poster Presentation session at the 13th<\/sup> International Symposium on Microscale Chemistry (13ISMC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Supakorn Boonyuen was honored with the Poster Presentation Award for his outstanding research entitled “Small-Scale Green Chemistry: Smart Alginate Hydrogel Beads Incorporating Plant Extracts as Visual pH Sensors for Food Applications.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The award recognizes the quality and international impact of Thai research in advancing Green Chemistry, while highlighting the capability of Thai researchers to develop innovative approaches that integrate sustainable chemistry with chemistry education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the symposium, the delegation from the Chemical Society of Thailand also engaged in productive exchanges with researchers, educators, and chemistry professionals from around the world. These interactions provided valuable opportunities to strengthen international research networks, foster academic collaboration, and promote the continued development of chemistry education through the exchange of knowledge, best practices, and innovative ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Society remains committed to supporting international cooperation and enhancing the global visibility of Thai chemistry research and education, contributing to sustainable scientific advancement and long-term academic partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final activity of the Chemical Society of Thailand delegation was the organization of an interactive workshop entitled “Small Chemistry for All Ages.” The workshop welcomed 30 participants from various countries, providing them with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through ten Small-Scale Chemistry experiments designed to demonstrate the principles of Green Chemistry and experiential learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop featured a series of engaging laboratory activities that promoted safe, sustainable, and resource-efficient chemistry practices while encouraging active participation and collaborative learning. Participants enthusiastically conducted the experiments themselves, creating a lively and inspiring learning environment throughout the session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop received highly positive feedback from participants, who appreciated the practical approach to chemistry education and the effective integration of Green Chemistry concepts into classroom activities. The event also served as an excellent platform for exchanging educational experiences and strengthening international collaboration among chemistry educators and researchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
