Chemical Society of Thailand Holds Bilateral Meeting with the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) in London, United Kingdom

On 6 July 2026, at Burlington House, Piccadilly, London, United Kingdom, the Chemical Society of Thailand under the Patronage of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana held a bilateral meeting with representatives of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) to discuss opportunities for strengthening academic collaboration between the two organizations.

The Chemical Society of Thailand delegation was led by Professor Dr. Supawan Tantayanon, Director of the BBL–CST Small-Scale Chemistry Programme, accompanied by Associate Professor Dr. Supakorn Boonyuen, Assistant Professor Dr. Boonnak Sukhummek, Assistant Professor Dr. Duangruthai Sridaeng, and Dr. Sudkanueng Singto.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by representatives of the Royal Society of Chemistry, including Dr. Jamal Hassan, Professor Hemda Garelick, Ms. Diane, and Mr. Brian Li. The meeting provided an opportunity for both organizations to exchange views on strengthening future cooperation in chemistry education, research, and professional development.

The discussions focused on two key areas:

1. Support for an RSC Award at the PACCON Conference

The Chemical Society of Thailand proposed that the Royal Society of Chemistry consider establishing an RSC Award to recognize outstanding research presented at the Pure and Applied Chemistry International Conference (PACCON). The proposed award aims to encourage and inspire Thai students, researchers, and scientists to pursue research excellence and achieve international standards.

2. Membership Benefits for Members of the Chemical Society of Thailand

The Society also proposed that the RSC consider offering reduced membership subscription fees or other preferential membership benefits for members of the Chemical Society of Thailand. Such an initiative would enhance opportunities for Thai researchers, academics, and students to access the RSC’s global professional network, scientific publications, and chemistry resources.

The meeting reaffirmed the longstanding and cordial relationship between the Chemical Society of Thailand and the Royal Society of Chemistry. It also marked another significant milestone in expanding international collaboration in chemistry through academic exchange, research cooperation, and capacity building. Both organizations expressed their shared commitment to fostering stronger scientific partnerships and advancing chemical sciences for the benefit of the global scientific community.
