The Chemical Society of Thailand organized a Small Scale Chemistry Workshop under the BBL – CST Small Scale Chemistry Training for Secondary School Teachers in Malaysia 2026, supported by Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited, on April 27–28, 2026, at the Faculty of Science, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Kuantan Campus, Pahang (Kulliyyah of Science, IIUM).
The opening ceremony was presided over by Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador to Kuala Lumpur. In attendance were: Professor Kamaruzzaman Yunus, Dean of the Faculty of Science, IIUM Kuantan Campus; Professor Dr. Wuttichai Parasuk, President of the Chemical Society of Thailand; Professor Dr. Supawan Tantayanon, Director of the BBL-CST Small Scale Chemistry Project; Assistant Professor Dr. Saiful ‘Arifin Shafiee, Chairman of the Institute of Chemistry Malaysia, Pahang Branch; Mr. Surayuth Kanchanaphokin, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Bangkok Bank (Malaysia); Mr. Mohammad Dzulkhairy bin Abdul Rahman, representative of the Ministry of Education Malaysia; and the Executive Committee of the Chemical Society of Thailand.
The training aimed to enhance knowledge and small-scale chemistry laboratory techniques for secondary school chemistry teachers, through experiments using equipment and chemicals in small, economical, safe, time-efficient, and environmentally friendly quantities. Over 100 secondary school chemistry teachers from 45 schools in eastern Malaysia participated.
